French born, Loic Valmy -(pronounce Lo-eek)-
has been an Artistic Director, a Vocal coach, a
song writer and a Movie Score composer for more
than 20 years.
Starting early in the industry, at age six he
joined a children's choir where he began to
learn singing in the classical method. From
there he quickly discovered a passion for
musicals.
He was only 15 when his first musical,
written and composed
by him, was produced in France. During that time, he
also sang in different bands, Jazz
orchestras and performed gigs all around France.
After high school, he got accepted into the prestigious
"Alice
Dona's Performing Arts School" in Paris where students
followed an intensive 2 year program of high standard
training in singing, song
writing, composing, piano, guitar, drums, dance
(modern jazz), comedy, theatre and physical
expression.
It is in that school that Loic
met one of his mentors, Master Anton
Valery. Through his teaching, Loic discovered a
new approach to singing, more intense, more
efficient, but also much more natural for the
voice, and therefore, much faster to master than the
classical method. After 2 years, Master Valery
accepted to teach Loic the art of teaching.
"It's not enough to know how to sing. Being a
good singer doesn't make you a good teacher.
Teaching is an art that requires so much more
than just singing. First, you have to train
harder and learn every possible technique and
methods than just the ones you would need as a
singer; moreover, teaching takes love,
passion, commitment; you can sing for yourself,
but when you teach, it's for the others, never
for you. You give yourself and everything you
know, everything you've ever learned is for
them. Very young, I knew I was lucky to be born
with 'a voice that could sing' and I knew I had
to find a way to pay that back somehow. A long
time ago, a wise man said:
"The purpose of Life
is to find your gift;
but the meaning of Life is
to give it away".

After
finishing at Alice Dona's School, Loic
started work as an artistic director,
coaching and directing singers and bands
on albums, records and stage
performances. He quickly made a name for
himself in the music industry and got to
work with the biggest record companies
in the world: Universal, Sony, CBS,
Virgin and many more. He wrote hundreds
of songs and directed several musicals.
Loic’s passion extended to
developing his own singing method. He
studied how singing was taught and what
it meant in different regions of the
world including Asia, South-America and
Africa. His passion for musicals and
Broadway lead him to study singing
techniques that are taught in New-York
and LA.
His passion for Musical Theatre started
when he was 12. He starred in
several productions and wrote 4 musicals
("A
child in the sand”, “Van Gogh”, “Do, Ré,
Mi, Femmes”). In his career,
Loic has directed more
than 15 Musicals for the most
prestigious stages of Paris and London
(“Aladdin”, “Angélique”,
“Van Gogh”,
“Do, Ré, Mi, Femmes”,...)
During his career to date, Loic has directed
more than 15 musicals for the most
prestigious stages of Paris and London(“Aladdin”,
“Angélique”, “Van Gogh”, “Do, Ré, Mi,
Femmes”). Loic's method is the
result of life experience over a career that
has thus far spanned over 40 years; part
classical background he started from, every
technique he learned with Alice Dona, the
huge influence of his Master Anton Valery,
his knowledge of other cultures, modern
techniques from Broadway and LA.
"If you can
walk, you can dance,
if you can
talk you can sing."
"I have been a Vocal coach
and Artistic director for nearly 20 years. I
have coached more than 200
professional singers and bands and taught to
sing to more than 500 people in my
life. I know for a fact now that everyone can
sing. There's no doubt about it. It's just a
matter of learning how to do it. We all have our
own obstacles and vocal
challenges; limitations and self-confidence
issues. It's my job to find the
tricks to overcome these limitations and give
everyone the tools they need to set their voice
free, find their strength and bring
their confidence back. " LV
